Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
